On May 13, Chery Automobile held a Safety Night at its Wuhu Collision Safety Testing Laboratory. This event, themed “Bottom Line,” marked Chery’s third “Tech Night” after Intelligent Night and Hybrid Night. Chery showcased advanced safety technologies to media, car owners, and dealer partners. They conducted a series of real-time collision tests based on global safety standards. Chery officially announced its first C-class flagship sedan, named Fengyun A9L, built on the E0X platform. They also introduced the B+ class sedan, named Fengyun A9, built on the T0X platform. These two mid-sized sedans reflect Chery’s commitment to entering the high-end new energy market. Fengyun A9L continues to attract interest, with 5,386 orders received by May 3. To meet consumer demand, Chery will release an additional 10,000 limited edition founder models. In the era of new energy, safety remains a critical focus. Chery, known for its engineering rigor, pursues strict safety standards. The company conducts over 1,500 real vehicle collisions annually, meeting safety standards across seven global regions. At the beginning of the Night of Safety, Chery Automobile’s leader, Yin Tongyue, took the stage. He stated, “Building cars is not just a technical job; it is a job of conscience.” Chery focuses on visible details and applies conscience to the unseen. Every life deserves respect. In 2003, Chery established the first domestic collision simulation team. In 2008, the Chery A3 became the first Chinese brand A-class car to earn a C-NCAP five-star rating. In 2013, the Qoros 3 received the first E-NCAP five-star rating for a Chinese brand. By 2023, the Xingjiyuan ES achieved the first NESTA six-dimensional electric safety certification for a Chinese brand. In 2024, Chery plans to conduct over 1,500 crash tests in its collision safety laboratory.

Chairman Yin Tongyue stated that Chery’s safety collision lab displays over 200 national flags. Each flag represents local safety verification passed by Chery. It marks the starting point for Chery to protect consumers. Every vehicle undergoes over 67 collision scenarios, more than 7,500 simulation tests, and over 100 real vehicle collisions here. Safety first remains Chery’s unwavering principle and baseline standard. Notably, Chery has also conducted collision tests on classic cars from the past decade. During Safety Night, the lab will transform into a safety defense venue, featuring four zones: a safety test area, a safety archive, a safety perspective zone, and a safety lecture hall. The safety test area will showcase major accident safety examples from Chery, Exeed, Jietu, iCAR, and Zhijie brands.

The Chery-based Fengyun A9L underwent extreme tests, showcasing its safety value. In the triathlon test, the same Fengyun A9L simulated extreme conditions and accident scenarios. It first crossed a 400mm deep water area, exceeding national standards by four times. Then, it completed a scraping test at 40km/h with a 40mm overlap. Finally, it performed a center pillar collision at 55km/h, surpassing industry norms by 2.95 to 3.36 times. After these tests, the vehicle’s power system remained intact. The battery pack showed no leaks, and the insulation resistance stayed above 500Ω/V. From meeting standards to exceeding them, the Fengyun A9L demonstrated its safety through rigorous testing, giving users confidence on every journey.

In the dual-car crash test, the Fengyun A9L simulated extreme conditions at 120 km/h. The A, B, and C pillars remained intact after the impact. The passenger cabin stayed whole. The airbags deployed properly, protecting the dummies and buying time for rescue. The fuel tank and battery stayed structurally sound, with no leaks, smoke, fire, or explosions. It uses a Rock Solid Body 2.0 design. The vehicle incorporates 88% high-strength steel and aluminum. The hot-formed steel and aluminum alloy ratio reaches 46%. The core skeleton of the front cabin features 100% hot-formed steel coverage. This steel achieves a strength of 2000 MPa, capable of withstanding 20 tons of pressure per cm². Combined with high-vacuum integrated die-casting technology, it ensures comprehensive safety protection.

The high vacuum integrated die-casting technology reduces the vehicle to 72 parts. This significantly lowers the body weight, achieving a leading lightweight body in its class. Combined with the Kunpeng square blade battery, which has 41 layers of protection, it safeguards users during travel. The Fengyun A9L features nine airbags. The 2060mm ultra-long side air curtain and the far-end airbag create a “flexible shield” with a six-second pressure retention, effectively reducing secondary injuries from collisions. Technology enhances safety. The Falcon 700 driving assistance system, built with 27 sensors, supports detection up to 300 meters. Additionally, the Fengyun A9L employs aerospace-grade electromagnetic shielding materials and optimizes the layout of high-voltage components, reducing electromagnetic radiation in the cabin to nearly zero, allowing pregnant passengers to ride safely.

The MCB collision secondary braking system can execute emergency braking within 1 second after a collision, preventing secondary accidents. The EDR door lock feature unlocks immediately during a collision, allowing all doors to open afterward. The water escape function extends the window circuit duration to 4 minutes. The Fengyun A9L transitions from active avoidance to passive defense. It combines a robust structure with escape redundancy.
