Recently, NIO held the banyan·Rong 2.4.0 version launch event, which brought comprehensive upgrades in multiple dimensions such as travel, cabin experience, NOMI, and active safety.
The new version adds two modes of air conditioning, including a mode to avoid blowing directly on people, for a total of four air outlet modes, providing a more comfortable space to enjoy.
In terms of battery swapping, the new version provides details of the battery swapping queue, adding the total number of arrivals and the total number of queues displayed, providing users with more reference for choosing a battery swapping station and reducing the waiting time in the queue. At the same time, during the battery swapping process, the vehicle does not power off, allowing the continuation of music playback and air conditioning.
HUD has also added a warm color mode. When driving on icy and snowy roads in the north, the warm color tone not only protects the eyes but also allows for clearer data reading in snowy environments, making driving more reassuring.
In terms of instrument interaction, the instrument screen also displays ambulances, police cars, and yellow lane lines, and the HUD also adds a visual fusion perception-based traffic light start reminder display.
The overall NOP+ high-speed experience continues to improve, with more active use of the rightmost lane for overtaking, increasing the success rate of merging/overtaking/entering ramps, reducing unnecessary steering wheel movements when lane lines are obscured, optimizing follow car comfort in frequent start-stop situations, strengthening reminders for functions introduced but not taken over in certain scenarios, adding rear-end collision risk warnings and dynamic risk alerts based on driver attention. In terms of parking assistance, a parking trajectory function has been added, with improved obstacle avoidance capability.
In addition, the banyan·榕2.4.0 version also brings six leading innovative experiences: track mode, 4D navigation comfort, map renewal, no wheat K song, NOMI full cabin memory, and active safety 2.0.
Track Mode: This mode is tailored for driving enthusiasts. In this mode, the dashboard switches to a track skin, the central control screen also switches to a track-specific custom interface, and also switches EP CLUB color atmosphere lights, NOMI exclusive track expressions, and simulated engine sound functions. At the same time, the dynamic control logic has been redesigned to provide drivers with higher maneuverability and further enhance driving pleasure. In addition, there is a track-specific video recording, with functions such as track/G-force/vehicle speed and timing watermark inside the video, and support for 0-flow album fast transfer and community-exclusive sharing poster functions, enhancing interaction between car enthusiasts.
4D Comfortable Navigation: This mode is based on the industry’s first AI chassis technology, with 32 levels of suspension softness and hardness, providing 8 strategies. When encountering large potholes, speed bumps, bridge connections, and undulating roads, the suspension can prepare the suspension height in advance, adjust the damping control strategy proactively, and achieve a more comfortable and stable driving experience. At the same time, NIO’s 4D Comfortable Navigation also has a memory function. After activating the auxiliary passing function in the 4D memory suspension on the same road section, the suspension will automatically adjust to the highest position when passing through again, avoiding repetitive actions every time.
Map Update: The map’s interactive interface has been optimized. When the car approaches an intersection, the map will automatically adjust the display scale for a more detailed road surface effect, increasing readability and aesthetics. At the same time, the system will suggest the best driving route based on the traffic ahead.
No microphone karaoke: This time, the no microphone karaoke function has been upgraded, picking up sound through the microphone in the entire cabin, achieving the no microphone karaoke function in different scenarios such as parking/driving, solo/duet/group singing. At the same time, this function also supports various apps such as national karaoke, QQ music, NetEase Cloud Music, and Kugou Music.
NOMI Cabin Memory: The memory function of NOMI has been upgraded again, bringing the first personalized memory for all passengers in the cabin. Based on facial recognition, passengers sitting in the front passenger seat and the second row can be easily recognized. NOMI Cabin Memory can also remember names, and users can use names and nicknames in commands. After facial recognition, a passenger account is established, and privacy data is encrypted only within the vehicle to ensure privacy is not leaked. The system can support up to 19 accounts. After the memory is generated, there is no need to call out the wake-up word, you can directly talk to NOMI. In situations such as getting on and off the car or holidays, NOMI will also greet passengers actively, providing a better interactive experience. In addition, NOMI also supports cabin-wide wake-up-free, can accurately distinguish commands, and refuse to execute non-command phrases. The most eye-catching feature is that when four passengers in the front and rear rows give commands at the same time, NOMI can accurately recognize and complete the commands. At the same time, NOMI’s continuous commands are also more powerful, even if 15 commands are given in a row, they can all be accurately completed.
Active Safety 2.0: Active Safety 2.0 includes GOA universal obstacle warning and assistance, MAI+ full-scene false acceleration inhibition assistance, AES+ enhanced automatic emergency steering, and other comprehensive upgraded safety protection capabilities, achieving triple dynamic perception and safety protection of the environment, vehicle, and driver status.
GOA’s general obstacle warning and assistance functions are developed by NIO’s full-stack self-research, based on the leading NADArch architecture and the new BEV, grid-occupying perception technology, combined with collective intelligence, to achieve efficient iterative capabilities. When encountering non-standard obstacles, it can help avoid or reduce injuries and reduce the occurrence of accidents. The lookout tower’s structured lidar brings a faster and farther response to obstacles, allowing GOA’s effective speed range to be higher. The upgraded version will support a maximum braking speed of 90km/h. In nighttime scenarios, perception and response speed remain at a high level.
Continuous iteration has also been carried out in the AEB aspect, and this version brings full-range AEB. The effective response speed range is 4-150km/h; the effective braking speed range of the rear AEB is 4-15km/h, comprehensively improving the safety of user driving.
