Recently, in the new car announcement from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the presence of Volkswagen was revealed. Volkswagen Anhui, as the third joint venture vehicle company of Volkswagen in China, was established in 2020 through a partnership between Volkswagen and Jianghuai Automobile. From the name of the joint venture company, it is clear that Volkswagen is the absolute leader in this company. After more than 3 years of preparation, Volkswagen Anhui’s first mass-produced car is finally about to meet everyone. According to the announcement, the new car is named ID.UNYX in English and 与众 in Chinese. The car’s dimensions are 4663mm in length, 1860mm in width, 1610mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2766mm.
ID.UNYX will be equipped with CATL’s ternary lithium-ion battery, and will be available in two versions: single-motor and dual-motor. The peak power of the single-motor version is 170kW, and the peak power of the dual-motor version is 250kW.
From the publicized images, it can be seen that the ID. model under Volkswagen Anhui did not simply copy the previous North-South Volkswagen ID. series style, but instead added its own features in the design, such as triangular headlights with a continuous light strip, and raised lines on the front hood, giving the overall appearance a sharper look. Looking from the side, the ID.UNYX has a distinct “big liftback” trend, positioning the new car as a coupe-style SUV. The tail lights of the ID.UNYX adopt the family-style “inverted trapezoid” design, with the most eye-catching feature being the gold lettering on the rear, including ID.UNYX, Unique, and Volkswagen, highlighting the new car’s different background and distinguishing it from the North-South Volkswagen ID. series at a glance.
